Recording Procedures Using the Power Button #

Follow these steps for recording a dataset using the power button. Note that while this method is practical, it lacks systematic component checks provided by the GUI. Ensure each step is completed carefully for accurate data collection.

  1. Power On

    • Turn on the RESEPI payload by pressing the power button.
  2. Verify Camera Initialization

    • Listen for two camera clicks. These clicks should occur approximately 1-2 seconds apart.
  3. Check GNSS Quality

    • Ensure that the GNSS LED is blinking alternately between red and green.
  4. Start Recording

    • Press the power button once to begin recording. Ensure GNSS fix and camera initialization are complete before starting.
  5. Initial Static Alignment

    • Wait 30 seconds to allow for initial static alignment.
  6. Takeoff

    • Take off vertically to reach the desired mission altitude.
  7. Flight Maneuvers

    • Fly straight forward, laterally, for at least 5 seconds at a speed of 5 m/s or greater.
  8. Figure Eight Maneuver

    • Perform at least one figure eight at a constant altitude (horizontal plane).
  9. Avoid Immediate Landing

    • Do not land immediately after completing the figure eight. Complete any required hot swaps during the mission flight.
  10. Continue Mission Flight

    • Proceed with the mission flight, performing battery hot swaps as needed.
  11. Pre-Landing Maneuver

    • After the mission flight, fly straight forward for at least 5 seconds at a speed of 5 m/s or greater to the landing location.
  12. Landing

    • Land vertically.
  13. Final Static Alignment

    • After landing, wait 30 seconds for final static alignment. Continue logging data during this period.
  14. Stop Recording

    • Press the power button once to stop recording.
  15. Power Down

    • Shut down the device by holding the power button for 4 seconds, as shown in Figure 1. The unit may remain on briefly after button release to complete data logging to the USB drive.
