Recording Procedures Using the Power Button in RESEPI GEN-II #
The RESEPI GEN-II, like its predecessor, enables users to record datasets without accessing the GUI. This method offers convenience but lacks detailed component checks and status updates provided by the GUI. To ensure accurate data collection, carefully follow each step.
Powering On the RESEPI Payload #
- Manual Mode:
- Press the power button to turn on the device if the Auto Power switch is off.
- Auto Power Mode:
- If the Auto Power switch is on, connect the device to a power source and wait for it to power on automatically.
Initial checks #
- Verify Camera Initialization:
- The camera should click twice, a few seconds apart, indicating successful initialization.
- GNSS LED:
- Ensure the GNSS LED is green to confirm that a valid GNSS fix has been achieved.
Starting Data Recording #
- Start Recording:
- Press the power button once to begin recording.
- Initial Static Alignment:
- Wait 30 seconds after starting recording to allow the system to complete its static alignment. You can now proceed with flight mission.
Flight Procedures #
- Takeoff:
- Ascend vertically to the desired mission altitude.
- Flight Maneuvers:
- Fly straight forward or laterally for at least 5 seconds at a speed of 5 m/s or greater.
- Figure-Eight Maneuver:
- Perform a figure-eight pattern at a constant altitude (horizontal plane) to ensure system calibration.
- Avoid Immediate Landing:
- Do not land immediately after completing the figure-eight.
- Perform any necessary battery hot swaps during the mission flight.
- Continue Mission Flight:
- Proceed with your mission, swapping batteries as needed.
- Pre-Landing Maneuver:
- Before landing, fly straight forward for at least 5 seconds at a speed of 5 m/s toward the landing location.
- Landing:
- Land the aircraft smoothly.
- Final Static Alignment:
- After landing, wait 30 seconds for final static alignment. Continue logging data during this period.
- Stop Recording:
- Press the power button once to stop recording. Wait 5 seconds to ensure all data is saved.
- Power Down:
- Hold the power button for 4 seconds to shut down the system.
- Confirm that the system has enough time to write data to the SSD before disconnecting the power source.
This guide ensures smooth operation and accurate data collection for your RESEPI GEN-II payload (Figure 1). For more advanced features, refer to the GUI interface, which offers comprehensive component checks and real-time status updates.
